Q. What is Tenses?
Ans. Tense is the form of a verb which shows the time of an action.
Examples:
I eat food.
He played cricket.
She will write a letter.
Tense is based on two concept:
1. Time : (i) Present (ii) Past (iii) Future
2. Work : (i) Indefinite (ii) Continuous
(iii) Perfect (iv) Perfect Continuous
Q. How many kinds of Tense:
1. Present Tense : The action which shows present time.
2. Past Tense : The action which shows past time.
3. Future Tense : The action which shows future time.
Actions (works) of all three times are of four kinds of each.
Q. How many kinds of Present Tense?
1. Present Indefinite Tense (Simple Present Tense) : Verb form — V¹/V⁵/do/does
2. Present Continuous/Progressive Tense : Verb form — is/am/are + V⁴ (V¹+ing)
3. Present Perfect Tense :
Verb form — have/has + V³
4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense :
Verb form — have/has + been + V⁴ (V¹+ing)
Q. How many kinds of Past Tense?
1. Past Indefinite Tense (Simple Past Tense) : Verb form — V²/did
2. Past Continuous Tense :
Verb form — was/were + V⁴
3. Past Perfect Tense : Verb form — had + V³
4. Past Perfect Continuous Tense :
Verb form — had + been + V⁴
Q. How many kinds of Future Tense?
1. Future Indefinite Tense(Simple Future Tense) : Verb form — will +V¹
2. Future Continuous Tense :
Verb form — will + be + V⁴
3. Future Perfect Tense :
Verb form — will + have + V³
4. Future Perfect Continuous Tense :
Verb form — will + have + been + V⁴
